Welcome to Old Butte Historical Adventures! Established in 2004 by a small group of local historians and property owners working together to preserve and display the colorful history of Butte, Montana — "The Richest Hill on Earth" — we offer family friendly walking tours of this wild era from the outside of buildings to the inside of historic uptown Butte. The Tours cover every decade from the 1890’s through the 1950’s. And for 2007, we're adding new areas to explore in the Stephens Hotel, Rookwood Hotel, and the Cabbage Patch. Of course, places like the historic City Jail, where Butte's own Robert "Evel" Knievel served time, are still open. Ask about our custom and specialty tours. • Detailed Tour Information •

Gold, silver, and finally copper brought Butte’s population to nearly 100,000 in 1917, with more than 150 underground mines running 24 hours a day. Today there are numerous reminders of the opulence, decadence, and wild lifestyles of poor European immigrants, miners, businessmen and of course the wealthy "Copper Kings." Join us to revisit this rough-and-ready history!
